These birds where originally made to be placed on a painting my mother had done, a painting I wanted on the cover of my doctoral thesis - only I thought it needed black birds to be fully compatible with the content of the text. So we made these birds, taped them on her painting, took pictures of it and sent those to the publisher, who was able to create a frontpage for the book that I'm still very pleased with. After we had taken the pictures we removed the birds from the painting and I saved them in a box, until one day, when I was working with furniture constructions, I got hold of three wooden pieces that I saw was just right for my black birds to be taped on.
